The Great Illusion of Time

The trouble is, you think you have time

We live as if we are eternal, as if the road ahead stretches endlessly beyond the horizon. We make plans for someday, delay what truly matters, and convince ourselves that there will always be more time. But Buddha saw through this illusion. He knew that time is not something we have—it is something that slips through our fingers like sand in the wind.

Think of a candle burning. Its flame dances, casting light and warmth, yet with each passing moment, the wax melts, the wick shortens. Life is no different. Every breath is a step closer to the unknown, yet we walk blindly, assuming there will always be another sunrise, another chance, another tomorrow. But what if there isn’t?

How many dreams have you buried under the weight of later? How many words have gone unspoken, how many moments wasted in trivialities, how many paths left unexplored? The greatest deception is not that life is short—it’s that we believe we are in control of how much remains.

Buddha’s wisdom is a whisper in the wind: Wake up. There is no perfect moment, no guarantee of another day. The only time you truly possess is now. Use it as if it were sacred—because it is.
