Your time is priceless, spend it wisely...
”We created machines to measure time.
Then we became slaves to their ticking.
Natural Time reverses this trend.
Life has already designed the most beautiful clock...
We call it the sun! Master of time and conductor of all living things.
Natural Time offers an alternative—one rooted in logic, mathematical beauty, and common sense. More importantly, it aligns with the cycles of nature, the rhythms that have governed life on Earth long before humans invented mechanical clocks (13th century) and modern calendars (16th century). But before that, how did people measure the passing of time? They looked at the sky.
Instead of measuring time by arbitrary numbers, Natural Time follows the actual movement of the sun, the Earth, and the moon. A day isn’t exactly 24:00:00—it breathes, expanding and contracting with the seasons. Noon isn’t just 12:00; it’s when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky for your location. Midnight isn’t an arbitrary reset—it’s when the night reaches its deepest point, guided by the position of the moon.
Natural Time isn’t just an alternative—it’s how time actually works in nature, on Earth.
Experience Natural Time firsthand. Open the Natural Time clock by clicking the button below and follows the true flow of time. Start with the tutorial and reconnect with reality.
Want to take it a step further? Try living without a watch, phone, or clock for a few days—especially if you're out in nature. Hike, camp, or just observe. How quickly can you tell when the night will fall? How does your body respond to time when you're not counting minutes? You might be surprised at how natural it feels.
MyPricelessTime had the privilege of meeting Sylvain, the inventor of Natural Time in person in France. Sylvain is an inspiring individual with a remarkable vision. He shares the concept of Natural Time as an open-source project, available on GitHub for the more technical minds, or through his blog for those who prefer a literary approach.
He also offers the Natural Time clock as a PWA (Progressive Web App) on naturaltime.app, which can be installed on Android, iPhone, and iPad without needing any app store. As of this writing, the app is available in French only.
On his blog, you will also find a shop where you can purchase an analog clock designed for Natural Time, as well as a DIY tutorial to build your own.
